An Introduction to Carpentry
Introduction to Carpentry is a 6-week program designed to introduce elementary-aged students to the basics of carpentry. This course will include topics such as woodshop safety, PPE (personal protective equipment), an introduction to construction math using the tape measure and speed square. Lastly, we will address basic hand tools and best practices. This is a hands-on course which will meet for 1, 60-minute session each week for a total of 6 weeks. Even though Kids Learning Carpentry, LLC is skill based as opposed to project based, students will work under the guidance of Carl Robbins to build a small project such as a simple, wooden ‘catch-all’ box, picture frame, or wooden cork bulletin board.
